Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC held their Annual Spring Show & Sale of 106 Dairy cattle and Fortnightly Sale of young Calves in Dumfries on Monday 4th May 2009.

106 Dairy Cattle and 32 Young calves forward

A huge crowd thronged the ringside and an excellent trade prevailed for all classes. At the Show & Sale of Dairy cattle ably judged by Mr A Irving, East Cliff, Longtown, the championship was awarded to Mr Roan, Boreland of Colvend, Dalbeattie. The Holstein Friesian fleshly calved second calver made £2100 to HG Graham, Hillhead, Chapleknowe. Second prize was a Holstein Friesian Heifer in milk from Messrs A Harvey, Beeswing which made £1880 also to Messrs HG Graham. Included in the sale was the Dispersal of 56 Heifers in Calf and 15 Bulling Heifers from BQ Farms Ltd Tibbers Drumlanrig Mains, Thornhill.

In Calf Heifers sold to a top of £1920 for an August Calving Norwegian Red Heifer In Calf to Brown Swiss. The Bulling Heifers also were in demand selling to a top of £1250 also for a Norwegian Red.
