Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 7,042 sheep comprising of 2,781 lambs and 4,261 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 21st August 2025.

PRIME LAMBS
A smaller show of 2,781 prime lambs forward. Following national trends lambs met some resistance, albeit heavy lambs were still keenly sought after and short of requirements.

Topping the sale was a Suffolk lamb from L. Learmonth, Whitesyke reaching £206.

Topping per kilo at 384.6p from A.D. Batey, Heathery Knowe for a Beltex lamb.

Please make sure your lambs are well covered and properly finished before sending them on a prime day. There is an unprecedented demand for store lambs at the moment and these type of lambs are far easier sold on a Tuesday at Longtown.

For all further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact your auctioneers who will be only too pleased to help.
