The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
126 prime cattle, 9 young bulls, 20 feeding cattle, 5,940 prime lambs
and 4,399 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale on Thursday
1st December, 2005.
The annual Xmas show of prime cattle (kindly sponsored
by Jobsons Farm Health, Longtown) saw a very good show forward before
the judge, Mr G. Moor, Roberton.

The overall championship was won
by Messrs J. & N. Blaylock & Son, Hallburn with a Limousin
bullock weighing 560 kilos and selling at 200p (£1,120) to
W. Kirkup, Butcher, Longtown.

The reserve champion, a Belgian Blue
bullock shown by Messrs J. Oliver & Sons, Walton Woodhead weighed
in at 580 kilos and sold at 150p (£870) to the judge, Mr G.

The prize for best British beast was awarded to Messrs Scott,
Summer Hill for their Belted Galloway bullock which was purchased

5,940 prime lambs were
forward at the Annual Xmas show and sale. Judging was in the hands
of Mr Paul Barker of Woodhead Bros., Colne, who awarded the championship
to I.L. McIlwraith & Co., Mouldy Hills, Canonbie for a pen of
Beltex crosses and later bought the champion pen at £70 per
head.
