Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held a catalogued sale of 238 store & breeding cattle Tuesday 16th October 2018. A small show of mixed store cattle met a much dearer trade than expected with a large ringside of buyers present. Sale topped at £980 for a Limousin bullock shown by AJ Raine, Hazelgill with heifers to £900 for a Limousin from N Calvert & Son, Greensburn.

A good show of cows and calves were in strong demand and again dearer than expected. The sale topped at £1,820 for a Limousin cow with twin calves from AJ Raine, Hazelgill, who sold others to £1,650 and £1,580. Simmental cows and calves to £1,520 from T Skyrme, Eastfield of Wiston, Biggar.

Bulling heifers to £1,150 for Limousins from N Story, Fellend, Carlisle and to £1,110 for British Blues from D & Y Wilson, Plumpe, Gretna.
