C & D Auction Marts' Longtown Store Sheep Sale on Tuesday 16th April 2024.

Store Hoggs carry on a flyer with good healthy Hoggs still very much in high demand.

Top of the trade today was a big Suffolk cross Hogg at £180 from Baxter, Moss Side. Followed by a pen of Cheviots from G Bell & Co, Bloch at £174.

Feeding ewes carry on the trend as grass short to appear, topping today was a Blue Faced Leicester Ewe at £164 from B W & G E Tailford, Beacon Rigg.

EWES WITH LAMBS AT FOOT

With the Sun starting to shine buyers flock to the ringside here at Longtown to witness a tremendous show of ewes and lambs on offer.

Topping the sale today was a fantastic pen of Texel 1 crop ewes with Texel Lambs at foot realising £152 per life from W J & J G Bell, Kinning Hall, closely followed by a pen of Texel 2 crop ewes also with Texel lambs at foot, finishing at £148 per life from previously mentioned W J & J G Bell.

A great run of 3-4 crop Suffolk ewes with Texel cross Lambs at foot averaging up nicely at £114 a life.
